December 2017

NEW BOARD MEMBER

Polestar is happy to introduce our newest member of the Board of Directors, Zack Gentz.  Zack was born and raised in a rural Grand Traverse County village. Growing up he spent his time working on his parent’s farm and fixing up old cars. He was the only openly homosexual student at the high school he attended, an experience that motivated him to contribute services which would help and encourage kids who are currently trying to navigate similarly turbulent waters. He hopes to emphasize youth services in the area and believes he will see the day when no young person feels the need to hide their true identity.

Zack will serve as Board Secretary.  If you are interested in making an impact, Polestar is still seeking 2 new Board members.  Interested individuals can email info@tcpolestar.org

TEEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Are you a teen between the ages of 14 and 18 that wants to be involved with Polestar and do something that makes an impact?  We are creating a video and print material as part of an education program aimed at teens and we could use your help!  For more information and to volunteer, email volunteers@tcpolestar.org. Parental permission will be required to participate.

YEAR END DONATIONS

December is the last month to get in your 2017 tax-deductible donations.  Donating to Polestar is easy via our website or by mail (checks made out to Polestar LGBT Community Center) at P.O. Box 7317, Traverse City, MI 49696.  Your donations help us provide social events, fund the Queer Prom, and will go directly toward opening a physical center in 2018.
