April 2017

Falling Down Stairs Productions is capping off their fundraising efforts by throwing a Big Comedy Extravaganza!  This major event will take place on April 22nd at 9pm at the beautiful and historic State Theatre in downtown Traverse City. The show will include performances by local talent and will feature nationally touring comedian Sampson McCormIck.  David Graves, Ben Macks, and Matthew Zerilli will be your hosts.

Tickets are $15 each with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Polestar to help fund programs, services, and establish an actual physical location. Tickets can be purchased online at the State Theatre website, at any Falling Down Stairs Productions’ April shows, and at the door as quantities permit.

For more information, visit the Facebook Event Page.

Polestar has been working with Traverse area GSAs to present the first ever LGBT+ Prom!  The goal is to give area LGBT+ High School students and their allies the opportunity to dance, socialize, express their true selves, and have fun without fear of hostility or intolerance.  It also provides LGBT+ students the chance to dress based on their preferred gender expression, or bring their same sex dates, without having to navigate a school’s sometimes restrictive and complicated policies.  The Prom is open to all LGBT+ High School Students and their allies attending schools in Northwest Lower Michigan.

The Prom will be held at Hotel Indigo in Traverse City on Saturday, April 29, from 7-11pm.  Tickets are only $5 and purchasing information is available at Polestar's Website.

It’s important to the Board that all volunteer interactions be meaningful and clear, so they’re working on drafting volunteer policies.  A volunteer meet and greet is planned for later this spring with the intention of launching all the volunteer opportunities coming up this summer and into the future.  For now, inquires can be sent via email at
